As we draw closer to the end of the 1st nine-week grading period, we would like to remind you that New Haven Elementary has transitioned this year to standards-based grading. This means, among other things, that your NHES student's report card is going to look much different this year. For example, we no longer use the traditional percentage grade or A through F letter grade system. Instead, your child will be graded in essential learning standards using the categories of "above mastery," "mastery," "partial mastery," and "not yet." We feel like this new platform better fits our teaching and learning expectations that are occurring within our classrooms. We understand that it will take some time (and a little bit of patience as well) to get acclimated to our new system, but we feel that it is in the best interests of our students as we fulfill our mission statement to ensure lifelong learning for all.
